PROPERTIES AND USES
Coconut oil is obtained by cold-pressing the dried pulp of the coconut. At room temperature, coconut oil has a solid, buttery consistency; above 20°C (68°F), it is an oily liquid. This is important for its storage and use: in summer, it can be kept in a bottle and dispensed with a dropper; in winter, the container should be placed in a bain-marie (water bath) or transferred to a larger, sterilized container with a lid, and then dispensed with a spoon. In cosmetics, it makes the skin more beautiful, supple, and soft. It is excellent as a facial makeup remover or as a moisturizer after showering.
